Louisiana Volunteers
The Volunteer table below provides a list of Louisiana volunteers who will provide research assistance in the specified counties.
County | Volunteer's Name | Volunteer Services |
---|---|---|
ALL | Art Suever | CITY DIRECTORIES and FAMILY HISTORIES
Note: I do not live in Louisiana ... I live in Allen Co., IN. |
ALL | Diane Kropp | Confederate Pensions Records: In 1898 LA began granting pensions to indigent Confederate veterans or their widows. I can search the microfilm of original documents. |
ALL | Shelli Steedman | I will check my marriage index 1718-1925 and death index 1900-1949. Not all counties are listed. I can also check censuses in any state. |
Baton Rouge | Robin Edwards | I can do the following research in East Baton Rouge Parish, but can do a little to help in other parishes/counties as well.:
• I've been a volunteer with Find A Grave for many years so I can do tombstone lookups and photos. • I have access to newspaper archives in Lake Charles, Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana as well as the local Baton Rouge papers. • I have a membership to Genealogy Bank, Ancestry and other major genealogical sites and would be happy to do lookups there as well. • I can research some records at the County Clerk's office but vital stats for this parish have been moved to New Orleans. • I can also research older archived records at our State Archives office here in Baton Rouge. (Vital stats, ship manifests and immigration, military records, church records, pension and probate records, etc... If I ask for any reimbursement it will be fees charged to me for copies and other sources. I do not charge for gas, mileage, etc... |
ALL | Zephyr | Available to copy/research any item, for any state or country, at the Clayton Genealogical Library in Houston, TX (one of the nation's top 10). Requestor MUST search the library catalog here FIRST (http://houstonlibrary.org) and provide the call information, title and author for the book you want searched along with the information to be sought in the source. Same for microfilm and other collections please. |
Calcasieu | Ed Grimshaw | Any reasonable request will be attempted. |
Evangeline | Janis Landreneau | Public Records lookups and copying |
