  • Dear Gerry

3 Craig brothers goldmining in Colorado all on the 1900 census. Daniel disappears presumed murdered, I find Dan Craig in Bruner, Nye, Nevada.1920 census. Is it possble to connect the 2 individuals, It would re-write our family history and be a revelation.

Patrick killed in New Mexico, he may have been deported there against his will.

Any light you could shine on this would be  so gratefully appricated

  • Please do not solicit email addresses from other users - it's against the Terms of Use.

I think we'd be okay with you informing them that the option of joining your mailing list exists (being clear that doing so will expose their email address), but please do not directly ask people to provide you with their email addresses.

    Thanks!

  • Hi Jerry

I want to "follow" the page so I can find it easily when I sign in, but I don't see a button to click to follow on this page:  http://raogk.wikia.com/wiki/Random_Acts_of_Genealogical_Kindness_Wiki

    • Hi, Karen ...

The best way to "follow" a wiki page is to bookmark with your browser.

With IE, you can bookmark it and put it on your Favorites Bar (and even shorten the name to RAOGK) by right-clicking on what IE automatically puts on the Favorites Bar.

With FF, you can still bookmark but FF doesn't have the equivalent of the Favorites Bar.  Under the View Menu item, you can show a Sidebar and put your bookmarks on the Sidebar.

      Not sure about

  • 48Jerry: Thanks for your reply to my friedenberg query. I have exhaustively searched the ancestry.com and familysearch.org websites and checked the other links you provided, but to no avail. Also, as mentioned in my original post, I requested a search for Sigmund Friedenberg's death certificate from the NYC Municipal Archives, but the search didn't turn up anything. I appreciate your suggestions, though. I'll certainly keep searching!

  • Somewhat belated welcome, I guess, but my internet was out of order for several months while Margie was busy improving this site with minimal help.

I'm pleased you've overtaken my "achievement points" and moved into #3 position!

If you're ever wondering about something that's not adequately covered under Category:Help, I may be able to help. One picks up a bit in 7 years with Wikia.

  • If you want to link people to your Message Wall, here's what would go in the FIRST line of that dialog box:

    http://raogk.wikia.com/wiki/Message_Wall:48jerry

Follow steps 1-7 below in my "Links" post ...

  • In the below message, the email code (deciphered) is:

mailto:shepard364@gmail.com = send an email to the specified email address

?Subject=RAOGK%Research%20Request = populate the SUBJECT line of the email with "ROAGK Research Request"

&body=Your%20Request%20Here = Start the message with "Your Request Here"

    %20 ... is "microcode" for a "space"

  • Got an alert that you'd made an edit on the Colorado page ... GREAT!! Glad to see you're editing.

The link you were trying to put in for yourself for the Colorado Divorce Records ...

    a. Were you wanting the link to send you an email

    b. Did you want it to go to a particular website?

    c. Did you want to start a new page? (If so, you've done the right thing ... clicking the link will open a new wiki page ... and you can put Colorado Divorce info on the page.)

If "a" ... you need to do a minor tweak.

    1. Click Edit ... and go to the graphical editor

    2. Find your name.

    3. Highlight your name ...

    4. Click the link button ... which opens a 2-line dialog box.

    5. Paste the following into the FIRST line (the second line will have your name from the highlighting) ... don't worry about the characters ... just paste:

    mailto:shepard364@gmail.com?Subject=RAOGK%20Research%20Reqest&body=Your%20Request%20Here

    6. Be sure you have selected the "To an External Link" radio button

    7. Click the Publish button.

If you want to do "b", You also have the option of directing people to your Message Wall to leave a message as I'm doing here. It will also send you an email ...

Either "a" or "b" will ultimately send you an email. "A" is direct email; "B" is indirect email.

You can also email me at: raogk_mcowan@yahoo.com

    Keep up the good work!!

OH ... I got your links activated for most of the United States pages. Did not venture into the non_USA pages. (Same instructions above would work for the activating your non-USA links).

Sorry ... thought I was logged in ...
