General Guidelines

When making requests of volunteers:

• Make requests specific -- avoid being too general.
• Make requests ONLY for the volunteer's specified research areas. (Do not ask for out-of-area requests.)
• Never ask more than one volunteer for the same request.
• Ask the volunteer what reimbursements they require: copies, gas, parking, etc.
• Negotiate an estimated completion time ... Remember: volunteers are not "on the clock," may research for multiple people, and respond reasonably as their time permits.

• join the FB RAOGK groups -- RAOGK USA and/or RAOGK International and post your research request. (One of the group members may live in that area and be willing to help.)

ALL	Art Suever	City Directories & Family Histories Can help with family histories listed in the Allen Co. Public Library Genealogy Catalog (ACPL). If there is a listing for a book, provide me with a list of titles/call numbers, family surname(s), and what family information you're looking for. (Also check the availability of ACPL microtext records (microfilm and microfiche).) The ACPL is the foremost repository for city directories. I can research hard cover city directories found in the ACPL Genealogy Catalog or microfiche and microfilm city directories found in the ACPL microtext catalog. (Please specify city, date range needed, and person(s) of interest.) Note: I do not live in New York ... I live in Allen Co., IN.
ALL	Petriska	I can do Birth,Marriage,Death vital record look-ups in the NYS Archives for upstate NY (NYC keeps their own records that are not included in the state archives). The information I can see includes name, place, date of event, NYS VR registration number. With that information you can request copies of the original document from NYS. NYS charges $22 per copy. Without this information NYS will do a search for you but it will cost more and it will take much longer to get your documents. NY State mandated localities send this information to the state health department starting in the early 1880's, but compliance was irregular until the mid 1890's. The cities of Albany, Buffalo, and Yonkers did not send information to NYS until 1914!
ALL	Sunny Shafer	BLACK SHEEP ANCESTORS: Over the years I have accumulated several files/records, documents, news items etc (5 GB) I have scanned/transcribed/digitized so I can search my hard drive easily. This info includes in part: prison, asylum, inmate, mug shots & Bertillon records, wanted & missing posters, photos, poor/alms/work houses, orphanages, sanitariums, court records, road/prison camp, executions, pardons, convict ships info etc. This info covers all U.S. states [and other countries] and all time frames from 1400's to present but primarily 18th & 19th century.
ALL	Shelli Steedman	I will check my marriage index 1892-1996 and death index 1960-1997. Not all counties are listed. I can check immigration records as well as check censuses for any state.

Bronx	Linda Savard	New York Catholic Protectory and Lincolndale-how to locate the children's records of 1880-1938.
Cattaraugus	Doug Brooks	Gravestone pictures. Crawford and Calvary cemeteries in Salamanca, NY.
Cattaraugus	Pamela Baase	Public Records lookups and copying, courthouse & library. Obituaries. Gravestone pictures, Reimbursement may be required. I can look up census records, marriage licenses. Obituary-Salamanca newspapers. Need at least month and year of birth/marriage/death. Primarily can take digital photos of Little Valley Cemetery, Sunset Hill, and smaller cemeteries. Will not do Salamanca, Olean, Randolph and cemeteries in the northern municipals. If possible, a general location of the grave would be appreciated.

Chemung	Patricia Wainwright	Unable to get death or birth certificates but will guide in how to get them. Will do look ups of obits, and births in newspapers, city and county directories, wills and land deeds.
Chemung	Garth Rumsmoke	Public Records lookups and copying, courthouse & library. Obituaries. Gravestone pictures, Reimbursement may be required. Limit Cemt visits to within 25 of Elmira Chemung Co NY

Chenango	David Fors	Digital photos of Chenango County Cemeteries.
Chenango	Jack L. Eaton	Lookups available in a 1902 Chenango Co. Directory which lists residents of towns and villages at that time (1902). Information often includes occupation, property owned, and numbers of livestock, if a farmer. Also an address (if it is a rural road, the address is given as a road number which corresponds with a map of the county in 1902. Copies of the map available also for cost of copying and mailing. There is no overall index, although names are alpabetized within each town and/or village

Erie	Shirley	Will do look ups in NYS vital records index for births (1881-1934), marriages (1881-1959) and deaths (1881-1959). Must have approximate year. No City of Buffalo births nor deaths before 1914.

PLEASE TRY to provide at least a general location of the site as I do not have immediate access to cemetery records. I may be willing to drive further throughout the county if necessary and for cost of mileage.

I only have access to the index for names beginning with Prager, Jacob B. and ending with Roff, Solomon, as I am participating in creating a computerized index.
Kings	Jessica Scheiber	Public Records courthouse lookups and copying. Can check Kings County Surrogates' Court records for wills and estate proceedings for anyone who died in Brooklyn. Please make sure the person you are looking for died in Brooklyn. If not, any records will not be in the Kings County Court records. Please give me their full name and exact date of death or at least the year, as many names are common. I will hand-copy whatever information is available and email the text to you, or if there is no record, I will inform you of that as well.
Livingston	Pamela Linfoot	Gravestone pictures. Will take digital photographs of ancestors headstones in cemteries located in Livingston County, New York. You must have a valid email address as the pictures will be emailed to you. It would be helpful if you knew the section and lot number, but not always necessary depending on the size of the cemetery.
